After creating databases for all of your media storage devices, each drive you have indexed will be shown in the ‘Title’ box, on the
left side of the screen. To add music to your Cortex storage drives by filename, follow the steps listed below. Adding files in this
fashion will preserve any directory structure already in place, allowing DJs to maintain organization of their storage devices.
Using the DBC Software
Adding Music using File Explorer
Step 1: Open the File Browser of the target device you are copying the files to. This is accomplished in the ‘Title’ box, by clicking on
the ‘+’ which appears next to the target device. Underneath it, the File Browser option will appear. Click on it.
Step 2: Find the directory, on the target device, that you wish to copy the files to.
Step 3: Find the files that you wish to copy to the target device, by opening the source drive in the ‘Files’ box and finding the directory
where those files are stored.
Step 4: Select the file(s) or folder(s) you wish to copy to the target device. You may hold down the Shift key while clicking the left
mouse key to select any number of contiguous files; you may alternatively hold down the Ctrl key to select multiple files that are not
contiguous.
Step 5: Drag and drop the file (or group of files) to the target directory you have found in Step 2. They will be copied, not moved.
After the DBC Manager finishes copying, it will immediately update the database found on the target drive.
Step 6: Repeat the procedure until you have copied all desired file(s) and folder(s).
